Heel Pain Subiaco
What causes heel pain?

The most frequently treated heel pain at our clinic is plantar fasciitis. There are multiple causes for this condition, and a variety of treatments are available. However, depending on the case, recovery can sometimes take time.

Heel pain treatments
At The Foot Clinic, the first step is identifying the root cause of heel pain. "Once identified, we discuss the best evidence-based treatments to address the pain and prevent it from recurring," says Dr Suresh.
Overuse or overloading of the soft tissue structures around the heel is a common cause of heel pain. The podiatrists at The Foot Clinic in Perth often recommend treatments like supportive shoes, orthotics, and strengthening exercises to relieve pressure on the heel bone and surrounding tissues.

Exercises & home remedies for heel pain
Strengthening the calf muscles is a key aspect of managing heel pain and improving overall stability in the lower limb, foot, and ankle.
“First, we’ll get you started on isometric strengthening exercises. These are exercises where the position of the exercise is held for 10 to 30 seconds,” Dr Suresh says. “Next, we begin eccentric strengthening, which involves applying a controlled load to a muscle as it lengthens. And finally we prescribe concentric strengthening exercises, which work muscles as they contract.” These exercises are sent to you via our online app called Physitrack, “This is an important tool for a self-directed home exercise programme.” Says Dr Suresh.
How can I prevent heel pain?
Everyone is looking for a quick fix to prevent or relieve heel pain, but the solution is simple: strong feet are key. “Strong feet mean your bones are in the right place, your muscles are strong and your balance mechanism is working well,” Suresh says. “If you have strong feet, you won’t have any problems with heel pain.”}
